Full Mouth Dental Implants

A dental implant is a tiny artificial tooth root most often made of titanium. It is surgically positioned in your jawbone to support an artificial crown, dental bridge, or even dentures. With this artificial root for stability, security, and support, your restoration options expand extensively. You can often choose from individual implants replacing each tooth, an implant-supported bridge for several teeth, or an implant-supported overdenture for an entire arch.

Conventional dentures can be uncomfortable, inconvenient, and unstable. Dental implants have become the industry gold standard for single tooth replacements, yet if several teeth are involved, they can be costly. By innovatively combining two technologies, it provides an affordable solution for you and a restoration that delivers tremendous comfort, stability, and an extended life expectancy.

Beginning with your very first visit with Periodontal and Implants Associates, Inc., our entire dental team is committed to establishing a relationship with you, acknowledging your unique individual needs, and striving effortlessly to provide personalized oral health care to meet your goals.

The Benefits of Full Mouth Dental Implants

An entire arch of individual dental implants is expensive and time-consuming. Full mouth dental implants offer you a considerable compromise with numerous advantages.

Comfort

Full mouth dental implants provide an extremely comfortable solution for missing teeth. They feature a removable overdenture that usually snaps onto several dental implants. This is quite convenient for cleaning or replacing, especially if an entire arch has been removed and you require a restorative replacement. This implant solution fits better and feels more comfortable, which will enhance your self-esteem and enhance your natural smile. Traditional dentures lose their fit with time and then become uncomfortable. This can result in ulcers or an overgrowth of gum tissue, making it more difficult for you to speak, eat, or enjoy your favorite foods.

Stability

Your dental implants are fused and bonded directly into your jawbone. As your jaw moves, so do the implants. This creates natural-like stability. Traditional dentures use adhesives and can easily become loose. Because the implants have securely integrated into your jawbone, they are strong and stable. With your restoration attached to these implants, it provides security, making it a great long-term restoration solution.

Better Bones

Dental implants are in a class of their own when it comes to bone and dental health. According to research and the American Academy of Periodontology, traditional dentures will eventually result in jawbone atrophy, and your facial structure begins to collapse with a recessed jaw. The integration of dental implants, functioning as artificial roots providing constant stimulation, preserves the integrity of your jawbone mass and density, and the aesthetics of your natural face and smile.

Easier Maintenance

Full mouth implants are quite durable, but not indestructible. The time and cost required for replacement can be significant, so consistent maintenance and overall good oral hygiene are essential. With daily brushing, flossing, and complemented by regular dental exams with Periodontal and Implant Associates, Inc., your implants can last a lifetime.

Convenience

A temporary overdenture will be placed at the same appointment as the implants.

Cost

Since this treatment requires only four dental implants per arch, it is far more affordable than placing an entire row of implants.

The Full Mouth Dental Implant Process

The process begins with a detailed evaluation by your team at Periodontal and Implant Associates, Inc.. We review your entire medical history and the current condition of your remaining natural teeth, as well as the condition of your gums. We also take several X-rays of your jawbone, either upper or lower, to identify and determine the integrity and density of your jawbone. Following this, we can pinpoint the precise, most advantageous location for each implant, or we may have to consider adding bone grafting prior to an implant placement, to achieve the necessary bone mass for successful support. When the ideal, specific positions are identified for each implant, the procedure will begin with your team at Periodontal and Implant Associates, Inc. administering a local anesthetic to numb the immediate area around each implant location. Once the gum is sufficiently numb, we will make a small incision and surgically place each tiny titanium post into your jawbone. We finish by closing each site with sutures.

It now takes a few months for the implants to bond, fuse, and integrate with the jawbone. During this healing period, we fit and provide you with a temporary overdenture. When your healing is completed, we will again open the soft gum tissue to insert an abutment or extension on top of the implant post to reach the surface of your gumline. With only two weeks of healing, you are ready for your final permanent restoration. It can be an attachment method snapping onto each post, or a bar attachment connecting the implants; either way, we attach the final appliance, custom-designed at a dental lab. The overdenture securely snaps onto the stabilized posts or bar, and you have a secure and stable restoration as you leave Periodontal and Implant Associates with a natural, healthy smile.
